NIM
NIM is a research project exploring how to create Non-Inclusive Motions. NIM are movements that occur without requiring human activation. They are the visual stimulation of Environmental Enrichment.
NIM are movements that meet the following criteria:
- Predictable
- Ever-changing
- Repetitive
In nature, these movements are everywhere. Examples include the sky, leaves moving in the wind, a campfire, waves hitting the shore, and the sight of a crowd of people on a terrace. We tend to feel safe and comforted when we are in environments that contain these movements. They are omnipresent in nature, but rarely found indoors.
NIM researches how to generate these patterns on walls.
